As a minor, Lamia was to be married off - out of necessity, not out of love. Lamia's dream of a future of her own was in danger of being shattered before it had even begun. But thanks to a goat, her fate changed.

Thanks to animal husbandry training provided by our partner organization SATHEE, she learned how to feed, care for, and keep goats healthy. After successfully completing the course, she received her first goat. She took good care of the animal, and soon her small herd grew. The goats secured the family's income, provided stability, and enabled her to go back to school—the planned marriage was called off.

The ena women's empowerment project gives girls in Bangladesh hope for a future without financial hardship. They continue to attend school and are trained in important skills—whether in animal husbandry, vegetable cultivation, or tailoring. This enables them to earn their own income, support their families, and courageously follow their own path.
