Alliance Relief Switzerland" - this was the name under which the predecessor organization of ena and TearFund was founded in 1984. After turbulent early years with projects scattered all over the world, the aid organization focuses and is given the new name TearFund Switzerland (The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund) and a new look.
The continuous professionalization leads to the award of the ZEWO seal of approval in 2008, which means that TearFund Switzerland will also receive funds from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in the future. Overall, the aid organization is developing into an established partner in emergency and disaster relief as well as in international development cooperation, which is in close contact with various local partner organizations and via several networks.
In the years that followed, TearFund Switzerland retained its values, which had remained almost unchanged since its foundation, while the organization continued to focus on the digital future and a changing donations market. This change becomes visible to the outside world just in time for the 40th anniversary, when the aid organization adopts the memorable name ena and appears in a completely new visual identity. True to the new motto: "Act boldly. Shaping the future.
Your donation for our global projects.
ena is, above all, a distinctive name that sounds like us. In its development, we based 'ena' on the educational concept of 'enactive' (understanding things through one's own actions). This fits well with our way of working, where our project partners and we grow as learning organizations through our shared action. In this way, people involved in projects are also encouraged and activated through their own actions. In Malawi, 'ena' means something like 'the neighbor' or 'the other.'
