Emergency aid in Lebanon
In the face of the current airstrikes and displacement in Lebanon, give hope instead of helplessness: drinking water, food, mattresses, hygiene kits, soap, and diapers for families.
In the face of the current airstrikes and displacement in Lebanon, give hope instead of helplessness: drinking water, food, mattresses, hygiene kits, soap, and diapers for families.
In recent days, airstrikes have hit southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the Beirut-Mount Lebanon region, where Iranian-backed Hezbollah positions are believed to be located. More than 100 villages are reportedly to be evacuated within a very short time.
17% of Lebanon’s population is displaced—that’s 1,000,000 people—more than the population of the canton of Aargau. As early as 2024, over 1 million people were forced to flee due to the armed conflict in the region—many of them have now been displaced for the second time. Even before the current escalation of violence in the Middle East, people were suffering from an ongoing economic crisis marked by high inflation, which was further exacerbated by the explosion at the Port of Beirut in August 2020.
“We heard boom, boom, boom, boom! My legs started shaking. I went to the living room and my heart was pounding in my chest. And I thought, ‘What on earth is that?’ So we locked the door to our house and ran away.” – 3-year-old boy
“We had to flee our home in a hurry in the middle of the night. I’m on the road with my husband, our children, my brother, and my mother, who suffers from diabetes and nervous system problems.” – Displaced person Mother of three
Food
When they were evacuated from their homes, most of them had to leave almost everything behind. People in particular need (e.g., widows, the sick, or those with disabilities or babies) therefore receive immediatemeals, food packages and milk. Over two million hot meals and 780,000 liters of drinking water have already been distributed.
Warmth & Hygiene
Many displaced people sleep on the streets or in emergency shelters. They receive mattresses, blankets, clothing, and hygiene items such as soap and diapers for infants. Over 96,000 mattresses and 34,000 hygiene kits have already been distributed.
Individual needs
To meet individual needs, such as medical care, vouchers or prepaid cards are used. This gives people independence and dignity.
Emergency aid is intended for people who are particularly affected, based on specific criteria. These include individuals who cannot find shelter with relatives or friends, are unable to cover their basic expenses, have a disability, and are not already receiving support from other organizations.
