Zambia: Susan Mbewe sews to survive.

Susan Mbewe

From rock bottom back to life

Susan Mbewe lives with her family in Zambia. They used to have a good life, but when her husband became seriously ill, everything suddenly collapsed. The family lost their home, their income, and their security. They had to move into a small hut – without electricity, without water, without windows. For Susan, it was a time of despair. "I was close to losing hope." But Susan decided not to give up. She gathered all her courage and bought a knitting machine with the last of her savings – even though she didn't know how it worked. Her sister supported her, and her son encouraged her: "Mom, you can learn this yourself."

Courage means not looking away.

You're not just giving money—you're giving opportunities. Whether it's 50, 120, or 500 francs: your support makes a difference. It's encouraging. And you become part of a global movement that empowers people to take action themselves.
